Hugo visits Ella in the hospital, where she's been diagnosed with a serious mental illness, and is heartbroken to find she doesn't recognize him. A mysterious figure named Inedia appears to Ella and draws her out of her withdrawn state through connection and dance. By the end of the act, Hugo is on a determined mission to help Ella, while something has clearly shifted in her.
